TEF Exam - Test d'Evaluation du Français
The TEF is designed to assess the level of French language of non native French speakers. It is useful if you need to evaluate your French skills for French Universities or for work.
It assesses comprehension and expression skills in French.
It gives a quantitative and qualitative measure of the level of candidate's linguistic and communication skills.
It offers a detailed and personalized analysis of results.
The TEF includes
3 Compulsory Sections (2 hours 10 minutes): Written Comprehension (1 hour), Listening Comprehension (about 40 min), Vocabulary and Structures (30 min)
2 Optional Sections: Written Expression (1hour), Oral Expression (35 min per candidate)

Please note
No diploma is required to take the TEF exams.
You can take the TEF exams as many times as you want.
The results certificate, sent to you by the FAB, is valid for one year.
Upon receipt and payment of your registration, the FAB will send you a notice (Convocation à l'examen) with a detailed schedule. A photo ID is required to enter the exam room. The mandatory part of the exam will take place in the morning from 10 am to 12 noon. The first optional exam will start at 1:00pm. The oral optional exam will take place from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, with the candidates being called in alphabetical order.
How much does it cost?
Exam fee is not refundable after the registration deadline.
There is a compulsory portion $150 for members.
Two optional sections $70 each for members.
FAB non members pay a $20 registration fee.

The best way to get ready for this exam is to take our general French programs.
We also have a preparation book and CD ($30) available for sale at the FAB's reception desk.
